Maplestone excels in renovation work, regardless of the economy.
Unlike some contractors that accept remodeling projects only when the new construction market is down,
the majority of our business has always come from work on existing homes and businesses.

Lead-based Paint Renovations

If your home was built before 1978, it most likely has lead based paint in it. The main danger from lead based paint comes when it is disturbed - when sanding to prep for painting or during demolition the airborne dust and paint chips can lead to lead poisoning.

Beginning in April of 2010, the EPA began requiring "contractors performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities, and schools built before 1978 must be certified and must follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination."
More information about the risks of lead based paint and your responsibilities as a homeowner of a pre-1978 home are outlined in the EPA's pamphlet Renovate Right: Important Lead Hazard Information for Families, Child Care Providers, and Schools (PDF).

It is especially important to follow these guidelines when preparing your home for market or making repairs for a pending sale. For more information on how Maplestone can help prepare your home for sale see our Pre-Market Makeover services.
